Ferme du Val is a huge traditional "mas" dating from the 18C. It is a very impressive property standing alone within 25 acres of open countryside. The house is conveniently located between two Provencal villages, approximately 20 minutes by car from the cultural centre of Aix en Provence.
Exterior Features
Both the house and pool are enclosed within a walled garden creating a secluded and very private environment. The grey/green shuttered house is flanked by large "platane" trees creating shady areas.
The lawned gardens are on two levels, the lower with a large south facing terrace between the house and the pool. Here, one has the option of alfresco eating by the edge of the pool underneath the shade of a vine-covered arbour.
The pool - 12m x 5m, heated, ozone treated, not chlorine, pool house with WC, shower and changing room.
Alternatively there is a second shaded terrace, with large gas BBQ, situated behind the house, bordered with flowers and herbs with a huge stone dining table.
Interior Features
The house has been meticulously restored and is full of many beautiful Provencal antiques and paintings whilst providing elegant, spacious and comfortable accommodation with the benefits of a fully equipped modern kitchen. The many facilities include a Satellite TV/dvd, fax/telephone, books and CD music system/Ipod speakers.
Furthermore the house lends itself very well to an out of season holiday with the benefits of full central heating, open fireplace and heated swimming pool. Ample garaging, BBQ, Boules and Table Tennis. WIFI throughout.
A Review
“We had very high expectations for our stay in Provence, and somehow our stay at Ferme du Val exceeded those expectations. It was truly like a dream that we never wanted to wake up from. We won't repeat everything the other reviews and the listing say about the place, except to confirm that all the good things are true. A few things that we would like to highlight based on our own experience:
- The house somehow fits well for any group size. We are a family of four, and it did not feel overwhelming. At times during our stay we had many visitors (up to 15 at one time), and it all worked just fine (and we even felt like we had enough space to ourselves when needed).
- Both the owners and the caretakers are delightful and conscientious people. It was a true pleasure to get to know them a bit.
- The house has all kinds of interesting and beautiful touches, such as artwork and antiques. Very unusual for a rental property.
- There are lovely, peaceful trails for walking and mountain biking starting from the property.
- Lambesc has a surprising amount of commercial and leisure activities to offer. So while Ferme du Val is very much in the countryside, you don't have to go far to find what you need. For example, if you are into tennis, Lambesc has an outstanding and very active tennis club with seven courts.
- For what it's worth, our family all agreed that the house has a very positive spirit to it, for lack of a better word. Some old places feel creepy, but Ferme du Val is the opposite -- you can sense the timelessness and history, but it feels comfortable and welcoming.
Enjoy!”
"Well, Provence certainly lived up to our expectations..... and they were very high!! This house and surrounds are a little peace of heaven. Thank you! We shall be back!"
